Born in Faenza in 1942, the artist and craftsman Giovanni Fabbri could attend the drawing school “Tommaso Minardi” when it was still full of teachers like Ortolani, Morigi, Matteucci. Then, he studied at the professional training centre directed by the unforgettable Professor Coppari. When he was a young boy, he started working as a glass decorator and in 1970s he discovered plexiglass. He opened his own laboratory and began working materials for advertisement and furnishing. In his free time he carried out researches on the material, on how it reacts to heat and light, on the shapes that derives from it. Moreover, thanks to the application of neon lighting, he managed to create a match with fascinating effects. Giovanni Fabbri participated then to some exhibitions such as the “Palazzo delle Esposizoni” in Faenza, the “Magazzini del Sale” in Cervia, receiving positive critics everywhere. He lives in Faenza and works in his atelier in Via Baroncini 9.
